What is a remote start / alarm system / or keyless entry system and how does it work?
Remote start systems start your engine every time, no matter what the elements throw at you. In the winter, remote start is a life saver. You will wonder how you ever survived without one as you go outside on cold mornings and step into the warm interior of your vehicle. Remote start is also a fantastic convenience during the hot summer as well, especially if you have leather seats. Pre-set your car’s climate controls upon leaving your vehicle and the remote start will do the rest.
A keyless entry system allows you to lock and unlock your doors (must have power door locks) with a push of a button by a remote control. If you have a power truck or hatch release (electronic) this feature can be added. Don’t have power door locks? Not a problem as Installations Unlimited can make your manual (turn key in door) locks into power by adding actuators (motors insdie the doors) to give you that power door lock feature.
An alarm system will provide similar features to a keyless entry, as well as a starter kill (this prevents your vehicle from being started once the alarm system is on) and a shock/impact sensor to alert you if someone tries to break your windows.

What is a remote start interface/bypass and why do I need one?
Most vehicles from the late 90’s to current have some type of RF computer chip built into the end of the key or in the ignition cylinder. So in order to have a remote start actually start your vehicle, Installations Unlimited has to duplicate how that factory computer chip key works. To do this we use a interface/bypass to see your factory system so for a short time, the remote start can safely start your vehicle without using your factory key and without any check engine or dashboard lights coming on. We choose manufactures that are industry leaders such as Flashlogic and Fortin who make these integration bypasses to protect your vehicle. These parts range from $49-$149.
